Who wouldn’t like Luxury Makeup without the Markup??
Whats the catch? Is the usual response, but after listening to another of Ms Rachel Hollis amazing interviews on her Rise Podcast I may have found the answer.
Marcia Kilgore is a “fearless leader” according to Rachel Hollis and after listening to her amazing journey I concur!!!
Marcia’s latest entrepreneurial endeavour radicalises the beauty industry and brings transparency to the mark up on beauty products!
It appears the trend in the beauty industry is that if a product doesn’t retail for $100+ then it isn’t luxury or any good – however In this podcast Marcia explains that most luxury products that are +$100 on the shelves can cost as little as $4-$5!!!!!!
Whooley Dooley! (as my kids would say) – That is insane! .
Why so much?
Well, there is…actual cost of making the product, but in addition to that there is the marketing costs, provision of samples and advertising material, travel costs for the education of retail staff on “how to use” these beauty products and more…..and that’s just the wholesaler of the product.
The retailer then needs to add its ‘huge’ margin, because it needs to cover the – cost of the product, its employees, rent of ever increasing shop front, and all the operating expenses that come with running a business.
Maria as a beauty skin care expert doesn’t want to pay $120 for a $5 cost to produce item so she launched her own brand in the UK – and more recently the US – (Sorry Aussies!!! It’s not here yet!).
She went to all the leading manufacturers and created her own LUXURY brand called BeautyPie and famously quipped “Makeup without the Markup” but it’s not just makeup it is all beauty products.
Now I am not a huge user of beauty products, but I am budget conscious when I do and I LOVE to buy QUALITY! So this really resonated with me and I am spreading the love because I know so many of my fellow women also LOVE quality and feeling their best…..and whats better than LUXURY without the MARKUP!
